Event description: Habari Africa I August 7 - 9, 2026 Join us for a free, annual, multi-day celebration of African arts and culture held on the waterfront. Presented by Batuki Music Society, the festival brings together African-Canadian and international artists for a weekend of live music, dance, workshops and multidisciplinary performances. Read more here. Duties: Ambassadors represents Harbourfront Centre and often is the first point of contact for the public. Welcome and greet audience members Provide visitors for information about the show and other events of the day Provide directions to washrooms, TTC, parking etc. Skills: Completed orientation session Completed accessibility training Friendly and welcoming Proactive, solution-oriented Knowledgeable about Harbourfront Centre programming and general area, able to direct visitors to appropriate resources as needed. Thank you! Summer Camps | July 6 to August 27, 2026 We are excited to welcome new and returning campers, along with their families, to our beautiful 10-acre waterfront campus for the 2026 season. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning for another summer, a memorable season awaits!Read more here. Thank you for collecting data on behalf of Harbourfront Centre. We greatly appreciate your time. Please sign in with the volunteer lounge attendant if available and then proceed to the information desk to meet with Visitor Services staff and the Team Leader to be briefed. You will be provided with a tablet at the information desk. Staff will give you a brief tutorial on how to use the tablet for the intercept surveys. Thank you for participating in this role. Event Description: Data Collector for Marketing and Audience Experience | Jun 20 - August 12, 2026 Collecting data is an essential task so that Audience Experience and Marketing receives real-time feedback about how visitors enjoyed our campus and programming. The intention is to collect 1,000 intercept surveys by the end of the summer, having four data collectors in place who complete 25-35 surveys per shift. The shifts are 3.5 hours long and scheduled for: Canada Soccer House - June 20 Canada Day - July 1 Canada Soccer House - July 2 Free Flicks (School of Rock) - July 21 Yummy Market - July 25 Island Soul - July 31 to August 3 Dancing on the Square (Maria and the Band) - August 12 Duties: The Data Collectors: Use a tablet provided to access the surveys or a QR code Establish rapport with people who are waiting in line or sitting Calmly welcome and greet them Let them know how long the survey takes Complete 25-35 surveys per shift if possible Skills: Completed orientation session Completed accessibility training Friendly and welcoming Strong communicator Proactive, solution-oriented Knowledgeable about Harbourfront Centre programming and general area, able to direct visitors to appropriate resources as needed. Thank you for supporting Island Soul on the long weekend as an Ambassador. Please sign in with the Team Leader and/or staff in the volunteer lounge in Loft 1 for a briefing. The Ambassador role is very visitor services focused and versatile. You represent Harbourfront Centre in a customer service oriented capacity that will allow you to be proactive and welcoming. You engage people in conversation, answer questions, redirect visitors, raise awareness about our not-for-profit charitable organization and encourage them to participate in surveys and Tip Tap donations. It is a fantastic opportunity to experience programming while enhancing public speaking and customer service skills. Thank you for being part of a team that elevates the visitors experience. Event Description: Island Soul Festival I Friday July 31 - Monday August 3 Now in its third decade, Island Soul highlights the diversity and cultural richness of Caribbean communities, showcasing everything from live soca, reggae and dancehall performances to storytelling, film screenings and interactive workshops. Held annually over the August long weekend, move to the irresistible rhythms of Kobo Town and the Pan Fantasy Steelband, groove to soca, dancehall and reggae straight into your headphones at the Silent Disco or watch Toronto’s DJ Starting from Scratch go toe-to-toe in a clash with The Recipee Band in an explosive musical rivalry on stage where the crowd chooses the victor. This year, the festival is partnering with Festival Kompa Zouk Ontario, one of Ontario’s largest organizations dedicated to celebrating French-Caribbean (Creole) culture. Plus, expect artisan markets and delicious Caribbean cuisine, reflecting the many distinct islands of the nation. Read more here.
